The more things change, the more they stay the same, or so the saying goes. In Hindi, to express the concept of staying the same, one would use the idiomatic expression X का X (ही) रहना. The connotations of this phrase are "as it's always been/as it was," and is used when something's status hasn't changed.

For example, धरा का धरा रह गया, "It stayed put (right where it is)."

It's not like things always stay put, though. It's not like that's how it really is. And it's not like describing what things are not like isn't useful-- it is! The equivalent expression in Hindi is तोड़े ही, and can also be translated as "by no means." Literally, one could say it translates to something like "little indeed."

For example, किसी से कहेगा थोड़े ही ।, "It's not like he's going to tell anyone/He will by no means tell anyone."

So, when the going gets tough, take heart! स्थिति बुरी की बुरी रहेगी थोड़े ही !
